Beginner's Guide to Tales of Seikyu
Everything you need to know to get started in Seikyu — from your first day priorities to building a thriving farm in your first week.
Welcome to Seikyu
Tales of Seikyu combines farming, combat, romance, and yokai transformation into one charming package. This guide will help you hit the ground running so you don't waste precious early days.
Your First Day
When you arrive in Seikyu, the game walks you through basic controls and introduces your fox companion Kon. After the intro sequence:
- Clear your farm — Use your tools to remove weeds, rocks, and logs from the starting plot. The Boar mask's charge attack tills large areas quickly.
- Plant your first seeds — Buy Turnip seeds (20g each, 4-day growth) from the general store. They're cheap and fast, giving you quick income.
- Meet the townspeople — Walk around town and introduce yourself to every NPC. You cannot give gifts or trigger events until you've met someone.
- Forage everything — Pick up wild items along paths and the beach. Free money and gifts.
First Week Priorities
# Days 1-3: Establish Your Farm
- Plant at least 20 Turnip seeds for a quick harvest on Day 4-5
- Buy Potato seeds (16g, 6-day growth) for your second crop cycle
- Upgrade your watering can as soon as possible at Hephaestus's forge
- Start talking to NPCs daily to build friendship
# Days 4-7: Expand and Explore
- Harvest your first Turnips (sell for 60g each) and reinvest in seeds
- Begin the Fox Ruins questline when prompted — early progress unlocks mask transformations
- Try fishing at the river (Carp and Crucian Carp are available year-round)
- Cook Grilled Fish with your first catch — it restores stamina for more daily activities
Core Mechanics to Understand Early
# Energy Management
Every action costs stamina. Running out means you collapse and lose part of your day. Key tips:
- Always carry stamina-restoring food (Grilled Fish, Fruit Medley)
- Coffee speeds up movement, letting you do more with the same energy
- Sleep before 2:00 AM or you'll pass out and lose items
# The Shipping Bin
Place items in the shipping bin outside your farmhouse. Items sell at midnight and gold is deposited the next morning. This is your primary income source early on.
# Season Changes
Each season lasts 28 days. All seasonal crops wither when the season changes. Plan your final planting so crops finish before Day 28. Check growth days on each seed before planting late in the season.
# Skill Levels
There are 6 skills: Fishing, Farming, Combat, Cooking, Gathering, and Exploration. Each levels up through use and unlocks new recipes, abilities, and items. Try to do a bit of each every day.
Common Beginner Mistakes
- Planting too late — A crop with 8-day growth planted on Day 22 of a season will wither on Day 1 of the next season
- Ignoring NPCs — Friendship unlocks recipes, quests, and story content
- Skipping combat — Fox Ruins progression is required to unlock mask forms
- Selling raw materials — Some items are worth more cooked or crafted
- Not using the Boar mask for farming — The charge tills multiple squares at once
