Cooking Mastery Guide
All recipes, flexible ingredient system, best dishes for energy and profit, and gift cooking strategies.
Cooking in Seikyu
Cooking transforms raw ingredients into valuable meals that restore stamina, buff stats, and make excellent gifts. The flexible ingredient system means you don't always need exact items — some categories accept alternatives.
How Cooking Works
- Unlock the kitchen through story progression
- Learn recipes by leveling Cooking skill, purchasing from shops, or receiving from NPCs
- Gather ingredients from farming, fishing, foraging, or shopping
- Cook at the kitchen station in your home
# The Flexible Ingredient System
Many recipes accept ingredient categories rather than specific items:
- "Fish" can be any caught fish
- "Vegetables" can be any farmed vegetable
- "Fruit" can be any fruit
- "Meat" can be any meat type
This means you can cook Grilled Fish with any fish you catch — no need for a specific species.

Best Dishes for Stamina Recovery
If you need energy to keep working:
- Coffee-Flavored Cake — Greatly restores stamina. Requires Coffee + Flour + Egg. Worth the ingredient investment.
- Matcha Cake — Greatly restores stamina. Flour + Matcha + Egg. Similar value to Coffee Cake.
- Elva's Beef Curry — Greatly restores stamina. Beef + Rice + Spices. Filling and effective.
- Grilled Fish — Basic stamina restore. Any Fish. Cheapest to make since fish are free to catch.
Pro tip: Always carry 5+ Grilled Fish. They're essentially free stamina.
Best Dishes for Profit
Cooking increases the value of raw ingredients. Top profit recipes:
| Recipe | Ingredient Cost | Dish Sell Value | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elva's Beef Curry | ~200g | ~450g | ~250g |
| Coffee-Flavored Cake | ~150g | ~350g | ~200g |
| Matcha Cake | ~120g | ~300g | ~180g |
| Omurice | ~80g | ~200g | ~120g |
| Fried Pork Cutlet | ~100g | ~200g | ~100g |
Best strategy: Cook high-value meals with farmed/foraged ingredients where the base cost is essentially free.
Gift Cooking Strategy
Cooked dishes make excellent gifts because:
- They're more valuable than raw ingredients (NPCs appreciate quality)
- You control what you cook based on what an NPC likes
- Cooking skill affects dish quality, and higher quality = better gift reception
# Universal Gift Hits
| Dish | Who Loves It |
|---|---|
| Sakura Cookie | Leon Achard, many others |
| Grilled Fish | Musashi, Torleone, Shuten |
| Candy Apple | General crowd-pleaser |
# Gift Cooking Tips
- Cook in bulk — Make 5-10 of a popular gift item at once
- Check favorites first — Some NPCs prefer raw items (Hephaestus loves Iron Ore, not food)
- Birthday cooking — A cooked favorite gift on a birthday gives massive affection
- 2 gifts per week — Plan your cooking around the weekly gift cap
Cooking Skill Leveling
Cooking skill levels up by... cooking. Each dish made gives XP. Level milestones:
- Level 2: Unlock 5 new recipes
- Level 3: Dishes have a chance to be higher quality (gold star)
- Level 5: Unlock intermediate recipes, reduced ingredient waste
- Level 7: Consistent gold-star dishes, unlock advanced recipes
- Level 10: Master chef — all recipes available, best quality guaranteed
Daily Cooking Routine
- Check your ingredient stockpile
- Cook stamina food (Grilled Fish) for dungeon/farm use
- Cook buff food (Kebabs, Lamb Stew) for combat
- Cook gift dishes for the week's gift rotation
- Cook profit dishes with surplus ingredients for selling
Ingredient Management
- Keep a chest of cooking ingredients near your kitchen
- Don't sell all your crops — reserve some for cooking
- Fish specifically for cooking — low-value fish like Carp are better as Grilled Fish
- Buy Sugar and Spices from the general store — they're cheap and unlock recipes
- Farm ingredients you need — if a recipe needs Tomatoes, plant Tomatoes
